About this item

In 1746, the composer George Frideric Handel composed his oratorio Judas Maccabeus, putting the biblical story in the context of the Jacobite Rising. The oratorio's most famous chorus is "See, the conquering hero comes." In this new A-B-A arrangement, for orchestra alone, the familiar tune is scored at the beginning and the end of the work using the March from the same oratorio as the "B" section. This is another excellent opportunity to perform this audience favorite, but without the need for a choir.
