About this item

Commissioned for the Norfolk County Youth Orchestra in 2005 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, the work vividly depicts Nelson's life from childhood in Norfolk through death in battle to a funeral befitting the mythic hero he had become. A rousing and very moving piece. The sections of the work are titled: "Boyhood in Norfolk", "Dreams of distant shores", "To be a hero", "England expects that every man shall do his duty", "Engage the enemy more closely", "A hero now at rest" & "Those laurels ne'er shall fade".
