About this item
Seven small jewels display the special charm of the traditional Yiddish Klezmer music. They are perfect to add spice to rehearsal, accent a program or provide an encore.
Each song is based on four string parts (3 violins and a cello). The 1st violin can be supplemented or replaced by a clarinet. For the 1st voice, there are number of variations, as is traditional for Klezmer music; they can serve as the springboard for improvising. All the arrangements can also be played by a solo instrument with piano accompaniment. Additional chord symbols for guitar round out the pieces. Short summaries of the accompanying song texts (in German) [PDF] are included.
The basic score of each piece is easy, while the expanded solo parts are moderately advanced. The individual songs vary in length from one to three minutes, but they can be combined or repeated in variations as desired.
The new thing about this material is - when you buy the complete edition, which includes all parts, you acquire the right to copy from any part as many voices as you need for your orchestra! The book includes each part on 4 consecutive pages (except for the piano part).
