About this item
Bizet's music fascinates above all through its thrilling rhythms. Along with the characteristic marches, the suite contains also all the Spanish dances from the opera "Carmen". The famous Flower Aria brings out the lyrical side of the music. Rehearsals and concerts can therefore be arranged in varied ways.
The cornerstone of the arrangement is an independent strings version. To capture the true spirit of the music, the employment of wind players is desirable: flute, oboe (2nd flute), clarinet, trumpet (2nd clarinet), French horn (alto sax) and bassoon (trombone) can all take part. Additionally percussion instruments including timpani, tambourine, snare drum and triangle can be used. For rehearsal and accompanying purposes, a piano score is provided. The narration (available in German or French) both explains the nature of the music and describes briefly the basic content of the opera.

Composer
Georges Bizet (1838-1875)
Georges Bizet (25 October 1838 – 3 June 1875) was a French composer whose best-known work is the opera Carmen, which became one of the most popular and frequently-performed works in the entire opera repertory. Bizet, who had struggled for recognition through most of his professional life, died three months after Carmen's first performance, unaware that his final stage work was to prove a spectatcular success.
