This piece has become widely accepted as a "National Anthem" for Scotland. It is not an old traditional tune as many might think but was written and performed by the Scottish folk group "The Corries" in the 1960s. This is the first published version for orchestra, here arranged by Chris Allen. In the percussion department one, two or even three snare drums together may be used.

Roy Murdoch Buchanan Williamson (25 June 1936, Edinburgh - 12 August 1990, Forres) was a Scottish songwriter and folk musician, most notably with The Corries.
