Wayne Dyess (1948-)
Dr. Wayne Dyess is Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, a position he has held since 1977. Dyess came to Lamar directly out of the U.S. Navy Band, teaching as an Adjunct Instructor of Trombone from 1975 to 1977. He was also the director of the sweepstakes Nederland Junior High Band, and the IAJE award-winning Nederland High School Jazz Ensemble during those same years.
