About this item

Present Joys is one of the five “Sacred Harp” hymn tunes featured along with Lenox, Cowper, Bridgewater, and Antioch in this marvelous medley for full orchestra. The Sacred Harp vocal tradition derives its name from The Sacred Harp song book in which a cappella singers face each other in a square seating arrangement and read “shape note” notation. This upbeat adaptation could serve as an excellent concert opener. Easily accessible to good middle school orchestras with additional challenges in the Violin 1A part, these will be fresh new tunes that will excite your audience.
