Gerald E. Anderson (1908-1975)
Gerald E. Anderson (1935-2010) earned B.S. and M.S Degrees in Music Education at the University of Illinois, where he participated in the Concert Band, Marching Illini, and University Symphony. He was elected to membership in both Phi Mu Alpha-Sinfonia and Pi Kappa Lambda, and was a recipient of the A. A. Harding Award, presented to the most outstanding university bandsman. Subsequently, he spent three years playing trumpet in the United States Military Academy Band at West Point.
Mr. Anderson has authored or co-authored various instrumental music publications that are used in schools throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, including the following: author: Essentials for Strings, string technique method; co-author: All for Strings, comprehensive string method, Books I, II, and III; All for Strings Theory, Books I and II; All for Strings Solos & Etudes, Books I and II; Best in Class, comprehensive band method, Books I and II; Encore, for concert band; Orchestra Expressions, comprehensive string curriculum, Books I and II; and editor: Harmonized Rhythms, for string orchestra. Mr. Anderson has also composed and arranged numerous selections for string orchestra.
