About this item
Vivaldi's "speaking" music delights players and listeners again and again. Thanks to this arrangement essential parts of this popular piece of work can now be performed without a solo violin. Its part is simplified and integrated into the tutti. For each season, two movements have been chosen. This adds a seasonal flavour to any concert - even if played on their own.
Just like the original, the arrangement basically contains one independent string edition. The popular request to integrate wind instruments into this arrangement is met by four possible additional voices: C I and II (flute and oboe / 2nd flute), B-flat (clarinet) and C-bass (bassoon). The thorough-bass (basso continuo) is set off for easy playability for harpsichord or piano.

Composer
Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741)
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (4 March 1678 – 28 July 1741), nicknamed il Prete Rosso ("The Red Priest") because of his red hair, was an Italian Baroque composer, priest, and virtuoso violinist, born in Venice. Vivaldi is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread over Europe. Vivaldi is known mainly for composing instrumental concertos, especially for the violin, as well as sacred choral works and over 40 operas. His best known work is a series of violin concertos known as The Four Seasons.
