Daryl Simmons (1957-)
Daryl Simmons (born April 11, 1957) is an American Grammy Award winning R&B songwriter, musician and record producer who is best known for his association with the LaFace Records production duo of Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.
Simmons attended North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana together with future R&B producer-songwriter-singer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. The two have been close friends over the years, and have also had a lasting musical collaboration. The duo would play the piano at Simmons’ home and were both members of the ‘70’s R & B group Manchild which had a minor R&B hit with “Especially for You” in 1977.
