Curtis Bryant Cliffe
Bryant, an Atlanta native, is comfortable composing in a wide variety of styles and mediums. His song cycle The Marriage of Heaven and Hell (1983) sets the text of William Blake for baritone and piano. Another cycle, Letters From Jack (1994), sets Bryant's own text, this time for soprano and chamber ensemble.
Bryant's 2003 cycle, The Laughing Monkeys of Gravity, features the poems of Stephen Bluestone. In the words of Bryant, "The poems are studies on the great comedians of early film, including Laurel and Hardy, Lou Costello, The Three Stooges, and Charles Chaplin."
