About this item
This piece tells the story of a passionate woman whose love of music motivated her to start piano lessons at age 91. Composed as a late-intermediate piece, Rackers uses music to express his gratitude for having been a part of this wonderful woman’s life, if only for a short time. His hope is that Rose’s love of music and life will continue to live on through this work.

Luke Rackers
Luke Rackers is an accomplished pianist, composer, and teacher. He began his jazz studies under the tuteledge Ken Kehner in Jefferson City Missouri, then continued his study of jazz piano with Eric Gunnison at the University of Denver. While studying with Dave Hanson at the University of Denver, Luke become very interested in composition and arranging. Luke continued his undergraduate studies at Goddard College where he received a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Jazz Studies, Music Composition, and Music Philosophy. He continues to study at Goddard College, working towards a Master of Fine Arts degree in Music Composition, Progressive Pedagogy, and Musicology. Luke is also a professional freelance pianist and performs regularly throughout the front range of Colorado. He is available for composition and arranging for a variety of settings including films, chamber ensembles, solo and small groups, dance works, educational pieces, and other interdisciplinary artworks. He leads a piano studio and teaches piano and composition to all ages and abilities. Luke is passionate about designing composition curriculum that is accessible to a variety of ages and backgrounds. His goal is to make composition a regular part of each student’s learning journey both in private lessons and in classroom setting.
