About this item

The exciting "Thunderbirds" tv series (filmed in "Supermarionation"!!) was one of the most popular children's programmes in the 1960s. It has been brought back in recent years to the delight of a whole new generation. The theme music, specially writtenfor the series, makes an excellent march.
Because of the interesting keys that this piece passes through the clarinet parts appear more straightforward in A, although the part provided is given in both Bb and A.

Instrumentation

2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets in Bb or A, Alto Saxophone, 2 Bassoons 2 Horns in F, 2 Trumpets in Bb, 3 Trombones, Tuba, Timpani, Percussion (Side drum, Cymbals) Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Double Bass)

Barry Gray (18 July 1908 in Lancashire, England - 26 April 1984 in Guernsey, Channel Islands) was a British musician and composer who is best known for his work for Gerry Anderson. He was born into a musical family and was greatly encouraged to pursue a musical career from a very early age. Starting at the age of five - with piano lessons - he studied diligently and became a student at the Manchester Royal College of Music and at Blackburn Cathedral. He studied composition under the Hungarian teacher, Matyas Seiber.
