About this item

In 1842 Mendelssohn visited London with his wife. They stayed with a family in South London and he wrote eight short piano pieces as Christmas presents for the younger members of the family. He later revised six of them and they were published as Six Christmas Pieces Op.72. Philip Lane has arranged them to form this delightful suite for string orchestra. A recording of this suite is available on an ASV CD entitled "British by Arrangement".

Instrumentation

Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Bass)
